2019 ended on a high-note for Savvy Cyber Kids as we were featured in a cover story in the Sunday, December 8, 2019 edition of the New York Times, Video Games and Online Chats Are ‘Hunting Grounds’ for Sexual Predators.
It was a surreal feeling to see a story that discusses an aspect of our work that we have been relentlessly focused on since 2002 (before we even became an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) grace the cover! We are so thankful for the wonderful reporting of Nellie Bowles and Michael Keller for shinning a light on an immense problem our society is facing today.
As parents, we find comfort in knowing our kids are home and not out doing who-knows-what with who-knows-who at who-knows-where so the tendency is to let our guard down. But we absolutely must be more vigilant than ever when it comes to the safety of our children. The technology our kids use on an almost constant basis puts them into contact with some of the worst of humanity, who want nothing more than to exploit our children in any way possible.
